RECOILING
By the loom of things, mom had to go back. The crowd was eager to hear moms part of the story. The mood was so overwhelming. The crowd was getting bigger and bigger. All the same, she was allowed in. The sisters could not comprehend what was going on. Dad and mom were so in love when both left for Kitale the previous year. The thing that dad was mistreating mom was something one had to make a second thought on before believing.
Breakfast was serve, grandma was all over her trying to have a glimpse of what made mom arrive that early. Mom explained everything. She managed to convince them at the end. Grandma could not believe it. How can all of them be this mean? Mom was a woman every man wanted to marry in the village. Were it not for her ego, mom would have been a mother of several by then.
Mom was so tired from the trip. What she thought of at the moment was what the in-laws will do next after realizing she was not a part of the any longer. But she consoled herself that we were in safe hands. She lay on bed for some time before falling a deep sleep.
The next thing mom recalls hearing was shouting. The shouting was in a blend of screaming and verbal abuse " We cannot allow that you kill our daughter, bury her and then bring her children with a lie that you can't find her, wooooooo wooooo". What exactly was happening, Mom slowly stood out of bed and peeped through the small window. What she saw was unbelievable. Her brothers were barring four of her in-laws from entering the homestead. One of dads sister was holding me and another was holding Moses. What was then assumed was that mom had abandoned us and an action to bring the two of was concluded.
The rage in mom's brothers eyes was enough to tell the in-laws they were not joking. Funny enough, the other party was asked to produce mom in a weeks time or expect the worst from them. That was it. They left. None wanted to hear whatever thing they had to say, they had portrayed betrayal from the beginning by mistreating mom. Grandpa was so angry that the daughter he loved so much had to go through all that was happening.
